Thomas Brennan set up his sand and gravel haulage business in 1933, he then expanded his business to include agricultural contracting. In 1958, Thomas’s two sons, Tommy and Michael, began working alongside their father, and the partnership of Thomas Brennan & Sons was born. This partnership flourished, new activities commenced, specialising in plant hire to Dublin County Council and Dublin Corporation. Tractor hire was the mainstay of the business during the 60’s and early 70’s. In the late 70’s we broadened our fleet to include JCB’s. In the early 80’s we expanded our services, so that along with plant hire we were carrying out groundwork, landscaping development as well as landscape maintenance. We invested in trucks complete with cranes and grabs, this enabled us to provide enhanced services to our customers.
Thomas Brennan & Sons Ltd. was established in 1986, this coincided with the third generation of the family when Michael’s sons, Peter and Martin, joined the business. The end of the last, and the beginning of this century saw major investment in all types of machinery by the company. We instigated a program of hire fleet replacement and expansion that continues to this day, enabling Thomas Brennan & Sons Ltd to continue serving Dublin with high quality, reliable and affordable plant and machinery, both with and without operators.
